What Nino Believes

Delegate Nino Mangione has built a reputation in Annapolis of being a tireless advocate for the taxpayers of Maryland and for his unwavering support of the brave men and women who serve us in law enforcement and public safety.

Nino’s strong conservative beliefs have always put him on the side of freedom, liberty, and common sense.

Opposed to Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project

Nino has been a leader in opposing the Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project which will destroy northern Baltimore County communities, farms, and jobs. Citizens have been threatened with the use of eminent domain to take their private property and Nino has led the fight against the big power companies seeking to intimidate Baltimore County residents.

Violent Crime

Violent crime is increasing in Baltimore County. Every day we read or hear about another random act of violence against our citizens. Murders, shootings, carjackings, and robberies are all at record levels and are increasing every day.

Nino believes that citizens have the right to feel safe in their homes and their communities. Like most Marylanders, Nino believes our judicial system has become too liberal and needs to refocus on delivering justice to victims. Violent offenders should be made to serve maximum penalties, showing repeat offenders that their actions will no longer be tolerated.

Supporting Law Enforcement

Nino has been a tireless advocate for the brave men and women in law enforcement who protect us every day.  Maryland law enforcement officers are under assault because of weak leadership and the organized efforts of the left who want to defund the police.

Nino believes in fully funding law enforcement and doing whatever has to be done to provide these heroes with resources they need to do their jobs safely and effectively.  He is strongly opposed to the elimination of the Law Enforcement Officers’ Bill of Rights and is committed to reinstating those protections for those that keep us safe.

Nino is proud to have earned the support of the Fraternal Order of Police in his previous campaigns for Delegate and looks forward to standing with them to make Baltimore County safe.

Taxes

Nino is recognized as the taxpayer’s advocate in Maryland. He has voted against every new tax and every tax increase. Maryland ranks among the top four most taxed states in the nation. The reputation and the reality of high taxes depress our economy.

These outrageously high and ever-increasing taxes have driven businesses out of Maryland, retirees out of Maryland, our young work force out of Maryland. Ultimately, high taxes have driven opportunity out of Baltimore County.

Nino has always promoted fiscally conservative values, such as sponsoring and supporting legislation to lower taxes, balance government budgets by eliminating wasteful spending, and working to control the growth of Maryland’s bureaucracy.

Nino has earned near perfect ratings from the American Conservative Union and Maryland Free for his work in protecting the taxpayers. He will to work to make Baltimore County more responsible, more affordable, and more fiscally responsible.

Jobs

Maryland is one of the highest taxed states in the nation. The potential for economic growth is hindered by our sales, income, and business taxes.  Maryland is losing business to states with friendlier tax policies.

As businesses flee the state, so do their jobs. Nino believes that we must get government out of the way to create an environment where businesses of all sizes can thrive. Private enterprise, not government restriction, is the key to reigniting the Baltimore County economy.

Nino has one of the strongest pro-business records in the Maryland General Assembly (100%).  He consistently works with small business owners to determine how legislation may affect their business and build a thriving economy.  Nino’s work has been recognized by such groups as the Maryland Association of Realtors, the Maryland Federation of Independent Business, Maryland Free and the Maryland Retailers Association.

Education

Nino believes that a good education is the right of every child. We must place a greater focus on teaching the basics of reading, writing, math, science, and computer skills in our schools. It is only with these basic skills that our future generation will be setup for success.

Nino is a strong advocate for parental rights and welcomes parental involvement at the administrative and classroom level. He knows schools are only successful with high expectations, accountability, good teachers and involved parents.

Nino opposes any teaching of CRT or gender identity in schools. He believes the role of the school is to educate not to promote social policy.  Additionally, Nino supports school choice and believes parents have the right to pursue alternative learning options for their children.

School safety is a priority for Nino. He supports placing School Resource Officers in every school in Baltimore County to work in collaboration with the school and community.

Illegal Immigration

As the liberal left attempts to give more rights to illegal immigrants, Nino opposed policies that make Maryland a “sanctuary state”. He co-sponsored legislation to stop giving driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants and voted against giving taxpayer funded in-state tuition at Maryland colleges to those not in this country legally. He also opposes giving illegal immigrants welfare benefits. Nino welcomes immigrants who wish to enter our country legally.

Baltimore County authorities do not routinely detain illegal immigrants on behalf of federal immigration officials even if they are charged with committing crimes in the county and is considered a sanctuary jurisdiction.  Nino believes this policy is wrong and acts as an attraction to draw illegal immigrants to the county and should be changed.
